Emma's Journey Back to Herself

"I can't believe that's me... but I actually look sexy."

That was Emma's first reaction when she saw her portraits for the very first time.

Just a few months earlier, she wasn't thinking about photographs. She was thinking about everything she'd been through.

Like many mums, Emma had spent years putting herself second. Between having two children and gaining around 40 kilograms during that chapter of her life, the confident woman she remembered felt a long way away.

Although she'd already lost 35 kilograms, this wasn't about chasing perfection.

It was about reclaiming something she'd lost.

"After having two kids, losing that side of me, gaining a buttload of weight, then losing a buttload of weight... this was for me."

Booking on a Whim

Emma first discovered Studio1000 through a Facebook promotion.

She almost booked without thinking too much about it, but it was her conversations with the Studio1000 team that gave her the confidence to move forward.

Together they discussed the vision for her session.

Dark.

Elegant.

Powerful.

A little gothic.

Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, butterflies and dramatic styling.

"Trust Your Vision"

One of Emma's favourite portraits almost didn't happen.

When the headpiece first appeared, she wasn't completely convinced.

"I was a little bit sceptical when you first brought it out... but I thought, trust your vision."

When she saw the finished image during her reveal, she laughed.

"You've nailed that."

It became her favourite portrait of the entire collection.

Feeling Safe

Many women tell us they're nervous before their first portrait experience.

Emma was no different.

Corsets, leather skirts and stepping in front of the camera felt well outside her comfort zone.

But something surprised her.

She never felt judged.

She never felt pressured.

Instead, she felt supported.

"I felt safe. Nico wanted the best for me. He took my comfort into account, and Michaela was there helping with every costume change. I can't articulate it any better than that."

Sometimes that's exactly what confidence looks like.

Not walking in fearless.

Walking in knowing you're being looked after.

More Than Beautiful Photographs

Emma describes her portraits as everything she'd hoped they would be.

Not simply because they looked beautiful.

Because they represented strength.

"It shows my strength. It's everything that I envisioned it to be."

For Emma, this wasn't just a photography session.

It marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

A Family Experience

Emma's husband Nathan was part of the experience from the beginning.

He helped choose the final portraits, particularly those that would hang in their bedroom.

Together they planned where each piece would live throughout their home.

Some would become statement artwork in the main living area.

Others would remain more personal.

"Having his support meant a lot... He's been my rock through absolutely everything."

Even Emma's children were there for the portrait reveal.

When asked what they thought of the photographs, their answer was beautifully simple.

"Mummy looks good."

"I Wish I'd Done It Sooner"

One of the funniest moments came after the session.

Emma and her husband went out for dinner while she was still wearing her professional makeup.

"Everyone kept looking at me and I suddenly remembered... that's right, I'd just had a photo shoot!"

She laughs about peeling off her false eyelashes at the restaurant.

Moments like that are part of the memory too.

Her Advice?

When asked what she'd say to another woman considering a Sensuality Unleashed experience, Emma didn't hesitate.

"Just do it. Come in, have fun, have a vision of what you want, share it with the team... and then trust them."

For Emma, the portraits were beautiful.

But the greatest transformation wasn't framed on the wall.

It was the way she saw herself.

And perhaps that's why her very first words during the reveal still say it best:

"I can't believe that's me... but I actually look sexy."
